Drag Scraper

Need a level playing field? Your problem can be answered by hiring a self powered and fully automated Drag Scraper from Centrehelm. The Drag Scraper is a versatile solution that can be easily equipped to suit your needs. It can be used with a range of sensors allowing you to choose the best option for your needs. We can also provide you with a rotational laser and tripod for use with the drag scraper.

The quick and economical way to carry out many levelling applications such as sports fields, farm and quarry access roads, forestry roads, golf course construction and also to maintain terraces and waterways, clean out feedlots, rebuild ponds, clean ditches, maintain levees, and much more… all with your tractor. Whatever your needs may be, our drag scraper is the machine for you.

This is an ‘Art’s-Way Pull-Type Grader’ with a 12’ blade, complete with an integral four stroke, single cylinder, diesel engine, which provides hydraulic power to control the elevation, tilt and angle of the blade independently of the tractor unit, thereby giving complete flexibility of movement around the site. Alternatively, the grader can be controlled by hydraulic power directly from the towing vehicle and, when operating in manual mode, from the tractor cab, a laser is not necessary. It can also be equipped with a Mikrofyn Machine Control System for a complete automated ground levelling machine that is ready to use behind any vehicle.

The MikrofynAgro™ system is an extremely rugged and durable system developed to meet the extra strain experienced when operated with a tractor, it works with all types of lasers and when utilising the MD-10 detector can provide either on/off or proportional hydraulic control giving the ‘highest possible accuracy where you need it’. It is accurate to within 2.5mm (1/10") independent of laser beam width and has a 360° capture range in a 190mm (8") window with most MD Laser Receivers. The MD-40 detector provides a 320 mm (12.5") capture window.

The CB1 control box’s compact design makes it easy to mount in a place where it is both visible to, and within easy reach of, the operator while the machine is working. The main functions have been designed to make both automatic control, and monitoring of the cross-slope and height, easy. It is used to set the desired cross-slope before Auto Mode is selected.

To control the cross-slope, the Drag Scraper uses a cross-slope sensor mounted on the blade. The sensor continuously monitors the cross-slope of the blade and this information is sent digitally via the control box to the hydraulic block, which makes the necessary adjustments to the blade, to ensure that the blade always works with the desired cross-slope. The cross-slope sensor is a very precise electronic sensor, protected by a sturdy galvanised iron housing.

To control the blade elevation, the Drag Scraper uses either a sonic tracker or laser sensor. The sonic tracker is mounted on the end of the blade as part of an extendable arm and continuously controls the blade elevation in relation to a reference line; this can be a wire, string line, curb, previous pass or any other solid surface. The sonic tracker works on the principle of electrostatics, which has proven to be the most successful method of tracking, it yields measurements of unsurpassed accuracy with an internal resolution of 1mm (1/25"). The laser sensor is mounted on a mast that uses a rotation laser for reference. The sensor sends information on the position of the detected laser beam to the control box, which then corrects the hydraulics. The entire process is done in 1/1000sec yielding mm accuracy.
